Happy Feet for the Whole Family with Skechers
I received these items at no cost in order to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own.
How many of you enjoy shopping for shoes? I love shoe shopping, but mostly when I’m just shopping for myself! Taking the kids shoe shopping can be such a chore. Usually it involves some
bribing big promises of treats for The Heir just to get him to try on one single pair of shoes. God help me if those aren’t the right shoes… So far, shoe shopping for Petit Prince has been pretty straightforward: do I have a pair that fits him from The Heir’s old collection? Yes? Done. Now that he’s walking I want him to be wearing new shoes rather than hand me down shoes, and thankfully he’s still quite happy to sit there while I try shoe after shoe on his little cherub feet. King Dad enjoys shoe shopping so much that he waits until his shoes literally fall apart before even considering a new pair. This would explain why he’s been happily wearing an older pair of dress shoes regardless of where we’re going (yup, even to the playground). Needless to say, the whole family was in need of some new footwear. Skechers to the rescue! Did you know that Skechers has footwear for the whole family? It’s true! From those first steps right up to a busy day at the office Skechers has everyone (and their feet) covered. Not only do Skechers look great, but they’re incredibly comfortable too! Let me tell you all about them!
I still remember my first pair of Skechers. It was 1999. They were a high heel wedge platform runner. The soles were white, and the upper shoe was navy. I wore them ALL THE TIME. In fact, I wore them on a trip to Spain and spent the better part of two weeks stomping all over Sevilla in them. I loved those shoes. My taste in footwear has (thankfully?) changed over the years, and Skechers has too! Today, the women’s line of Skechers has a huge variety of styles, colours, and patterns. I’ve been sporting a pair of Skechers Microburst Fluctuate walking shoes almost daily, and I’ve got to say that I adore them. These shoes are the perfect every day shoe for me. For starters, they are ridiculously comfortable. Imagine walking around on a foot hugging cloud. It’s like that only better. They have this special Burst material in the midsole that makes them super flexible and really lightweight. The insole is equipped with this Air Cooled Memory Foam cushioning, so it literally molds to your foot. Plus, I don’t have to worry about my feet getting too hot or sweaty in these kicks! The best part? I can slip these on and off completely hands free! These have a slip on bungee lacing that requires no tying or cinching. I often find myself wearing a baby, and it’s next to impossible to bend down to tie my shoes or even use my hands to pull shoes on when I’m babywearing. With these Skechers, I don’t have to do that! There’s even a built in elastic that holds the tongue of the shoe in place, so I don’t need to pull the tongue out after getting my foot into the shoe. I’m one of those people that’s particularly prone to blisters on my heels. It seems like no matter what shoes I wear, I always get blisters. Did I blister in my Skechers Microburst Fluctuate shoes? No, I sure didn’t! I’m crediting the super smooth inner material of these shoes. There’s literally no seams for my feet to rub against, so I just slip these on and away I go! The comfort of these shoes absolutely lasts all day. I can even spend hours walking around the zoo without even thinking about my feet!
When I asked King Dad which Skechers shoes he’d like, he gave me free rein to order whatever I wanted for him! This is what I call winning the husband jackpot. I love nothing more than choosing his clothing and footwear. I spent a good chunk of time perusing the wide selection of men’s footwear that Skechers offers. Who knew they had so much to choose from? From winter boots and hiking boots to dress boots and dress shoes, and everything in between, Skechers has tons of selection for the man you get to shop for! Knowing that what King Dad really needed was a great pair of weekend shoes, I went with the Skechers Relaxed Fit Elvino-Lemen shoe. These shoes are the perfect casual sneaker for busy weekends. They are a smooth full grain leather and suede oxford design lace up sneaker. They come with off-white laces in the shoes and a set of black laces in the box in case you want to change up the look. These Elvino-Lemen shoes looks great whether he’s at the playground with the kids or out for brunch and a stroll downtown. Are they comfortable? Kind Dad says they are, and I believe him! These shoes are equipped with that awesome Air Cooled Memory Foam cushioned insole, so it conforms nicely to the shape of his foot. I love all the details on this shoe. The lace up front with metal eyelets, the suede and leather overlays, and the fabric stripe detail on the heel make these shoes really on point.
What about the kids? Skechers has them covered too! The Heir was needing a new pair of sneakers to wear for preschool, and I went with the Skechers Flex Advantage Master Mind shoe. What I look for in a sneaker for The Heir is something lightweight, flexible, and easy for him to put on by himself. Though there are days where he wants me to help him with his shoes, those days are few and far between now. He takes great pride in being able to do it all by himself, and I love encouraging his independence! The Skechers Master Mind shoe is an athletic sporty training sneaker with a one piece Skech Knit Mesh fabric upper. It has a Gel Infused Memory Foam cushioned insole, so I know The Heir’s foot is super comfy in these. The laces on this shoe are made with elastic, so they just stretch open when he opens up the shoe to put them on. There’s a strap that comes over the cushioned tongue of the shoe to allow for a custom fit with a velcro closure. Can he put these on by himself? He sure can! The sole of the Skechers Master Mind shoe is super flexible. His foot has complete range of motion for all the running and jumping he likes to do. The Heir loves these shoes so much that he spent the entire first week he had them wearing them all over the house (they hadn’t been worn outside yet, so I was totally okay with that). He wanted to wear them all the time. Now, they are his first pick whenever we leave the house. He wants to wear these everywhere we go!
What about Petit Prince? Do Skechers shoes even come in toddler and infant sizes? They sure do! Petit Prince is just moving to a toddler size 4 shoe and, lucky for us, Skechers has shoes as small as infant size 1! Since Petit Prince is just starting to walk now, I want him in a shoe that still allows him to feel the ground or floor beneath his feet. The sole needs to be thin and super flexible, and the shoe needs to open up wide to make it easy to get his chubby little feet into. The Skechers Boys’ Lace Up Bootie is what I chose for him. Not only are these booties absolutely adorable, but the leather they’re made with is buttery soft. The sole on these booties is made with an extra-flex rubber traction that grips the floor well and is super flexible for Petit Prince’s little feet. The nice thing about these is that the sole is thin enough that he feels the ground beneath his feet, but there’s still a nicely cushioned insole and shock absorbing midsole. Despite his new found ability to walk, Petit Prince is much faster when he crawls, so he often drops down to all fours and crawls around. The sole of the Lace Up Bootie come up around the top of the toe creating a toe bumper. This is perfect for littles that flip between crawling and walking. I don’t have to worry that he’s going to destroy the top of the booties by dragging them along the ground. The stitching details, the cordura mesh trim around the ankle, and the metal eyelets around the laces give these booties such a great look. If I could change just one thing about these, it would be to make the laces elastic! The laces on these boots are real laces, so you have to tie them up. That’s great for getting a really snug fit on a tiny foot and for creating a really big opening to put them on, but not so great when your toddler is squirming all over the place and just wants to get on the move. Petit Prince likes to pull at the laces, so I have to tie them with a double knot to keep him from untying them. These Skechers Lace Up Booties have been great for Petit Prince’s early walking steps. He has no trouble walking around in them, and absolutely loves these booties (he literally carries them around the house).
If you haven’t checked out Skechers shoes for your family’s footwear, you really should! The selection is unbeatable, and they really do have a shoe for almost every occasion. The comfort of Skechers can’t be beat, and your feet will thank you for slipping into a pair.
