About Me
Meet Stefanie aka The Monarch Mommy
Welcome to The Monarch Mommy! I’m mom to two boys (The Heir who’s 10 years old, and Petit Prince who’s 7 years old), and wife to King Dad. I’m originally from Vancouver, but now we call Victoria home. In my previous life, I was doing a PhD in ancient Greek & Roman history, but I gave that all up to be a SAHM after The Heir arrived. If being a grad student has given me one thing, it would be major research skills. Once I start looking into something, I need to find out as much as I possibly can until there’s nothing left to know. Naturally, that need to research overflowed into my parenting life.
When I was pregnant with The Heir I was the first of my friends to have a baby. There was no one I could ask about the ins and outs of having kids who knew what I needed and what I didn’t. It was up to me to sort through all the mountains of information about children and parenting, and I was up for the challenge. Since then I’ve become the one my friends and family turn to when they have questions about their kidlets. Through the online groups I’m a part of, I’ve helped countless parents with their cloth diaper wash routines. I couldn’t even count the number of times someone’s asked me if I have a blog! In 2017, I became a CPSAC certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. I’m part of the team at Vancouver Island Car Seat Technicians, where we help parents and caregivers narrow down the best car seats and boosters for their children, and help them with their installation questions and concerns. Through my work as a CPST, I have helped many families feel confident using their car seat every day. If you’d like to schedule an in person car seat check with me, you can do that HERE.
With some encouragement from my friend Lindsay, I decided to (finally) start a blog! I’ll be sharing all the information that’s swirling around in my head from my years of researching everything about pregnancy, babies, and kids. From trying to conceive to preschool and everything in between, I’ve got something to say about all of it! I’ll be writing about all my favourite things including cloth diapers, breastfeeding, baby wearing, baby gear, car seat safety, and life as a mom of two.
Why is my blog called The Monarch Mommy? After Petit Prince was born, everyone who heard the names of my two boys would tell me how regal and old fashioned their names were. If everyone thought I was raising kings, then that made me the queen mother. Thus The Monarch Mommy was born!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Mommy Blogging! I’m so excited to have you as my Bloggeague. (That’s my word for Blogging Colleague: let’s make it a thing!)
What are your children’s names?
It was great to read your introduction and find out about your background. Thank you!
