Meal Time Fun with Evenflo Sippy Cups
I received these items at no cost in order to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own.
How many sippy cups have you been through with your little one? Be honest. Two? Three? Eight? More? It’s okay. I get it. Getting your baby to take a sippy cup of any kind can be downright impossible. I’ve seen friends buy every single cup available and still not find one that their littles will accept. Such is the plight of parenthood! Evenflo Feeding has a variety of sippy cups available, and I bet there’s at least one that your baby will accept. Sometimes it takes a little patience and perseverance, but the good news is that Evenflo Feeding has made their sippy cups super fun! I kid you not! In my books, anything that adds fun instead of frustration to meal time gets an A+! The Evenflo Soft Straw Insulated Cup and the Evenflo Sip & Seek Cup put the fun in FUNctional and might just bring some giggles to your next family meal.
The Evenflo Soft Straw Insulated Cup is great for beginners! Designed for babies six months and up, this cup holds up to 10oz of liquid, and has a double walled design to help keep liquids warm or cool. The silicone straw is a wide design with a valve in the middle of the straw rather than up at the top. This prevents the cup from leaking out the straw if it is dropped or tipped over. The width of the straw also makes it easier for cleaning! The silicone part of the straw connects to the lid securely so it can’t be pulled out through the opening in the cup’s lid. The lid slides closed over the straw to prevent leaks when it’s not in use. There’s added leak protection on the side of the cup too. Simply turn the lid and lock it in the notches to keep liquids inside the cup where they belong. The Evenflo Soft Straw Insulated Cup is dishwasher (top rack only) and is BPA free.
The Evenflo Soft Straw Insulated Cup that I have for Petit Prince is the Zoo Friends cup. It features an adorable scene of jungle animals sharing bananas. Petit Prince loves the scene on this cup and he likes to point at all the animals. Petit Prince does really well with straw sippy cups, so it came as no surprise to me when he took to this cup right away! What I love about it is that the silicone used for the straw is quite thick and sturdy. Unlike other silicone straw cups, it’s thick enough that it can withstand the sharp teeth of a teething baby. There’s nothing more annoying that constantly needing to replace the silicone straw of a sippy cup because your child keeps chewing right through it. So far, despite Petit Prince’s intense teething, this hasn’t been an issue with the Evenflo Soft Straw Insulated Cup.
I also like how nice and easy it is to slide the cup open and closed. When the little hatch on the top of the lid is closed, the straw is tucked away and the cup does not leak. I have also made use of the added leak protection provided by turning the cup lid extra tight to secure the notches on the side. This does prevent leaks from the base of the lid, but I find it pretty difficult to open the cup from that point. It gets one there super tight and then I struggle to get it open. This seems like something that will become easier with continued use. Even full of water, I can shake this cup vigorously with the hatch closed over the straw and the lid tightened securely into the notches on the side and have absolutely no leaks. Literally none. It’s great! Cleaning the cup is a breeze, but I do use a straw brush to clean the different straw pieces. It’s especially important to use a straw brush on the firm plastic straw that descends into the cup.
The Evenflo Soft Straw Insulated Cup is incredibly lightweight. Though the cup seems large, it is actually really light! It’s definitely not too heavy for Petit Prince to lift for himself. Now that he’s up and walking all over the place, he has no trouble carrying it around with him even when it’s full.
The Evenflo Sip & Seek Cup is designed to be used by children nine months and older. This cup holds up to 10oz of liquid, and is insulated so it will keep your child’s beverage cooler or warmer longer. The spout on this cup is a more traditional “sippy spout” that is made out of a hard plastic. Inside the spouted lid is a silicone 3 Flow Position Valve. Each flow speed is indicated with a water droplet symbol beside the valve. There’s a slow, medium, and fast flow valve built right in. There’s also a spill-proof/off setting on the valve, so if you’re going to be dropping this cup in your purse you can set the valve to “off”, and not have to worry about leaks. Because each of the 3 flow speed valve settings requires suction to let liquid through, you can keep the cup set to the valve speed that’s right for your child and not have to worry about any leaking if the cup is dropped or tipped over. The Evenflo Sip & Seek Cup comes apart completely for cleaning. Even the outer sleeve of the cup is removable. The outer sleeve of the cup spins around. It has various “windows” along the outer sleeve and different pictures underneath. As you spin the outer sleeve, different scenes are revealed making it fun for your child. The Evenflo Sip & Seek Cup is dishwasher (top rack only) and is BPA free.
I don’t know how to put this, so I’m just going to come out and say it. I love this cup. LOVE it. First, the spout. This is the first time I’ve tried a firm sippy spouted cup with either of my children. Simply put, it’s awesome. Not only do I not have to worry about Petit Prince chewing through it or damaging it at all with his razor sharp teeth, but it eliminates the inconvenience of trying to clean a straw. Don’t get me wrong, I love a straw cup for how easy they are for littles to learn to use them, but cleaning a straw (and inevitably replacing a straw) is less fun. The silicone 3 flow speed valve on the Evenflo Sip & Seek Cup is fantastic. Since it doesn’t come in contact with the child’s teeth or mouth, it just doesn’t get damaged. That means one valve will actually last you a really long time. I love that I can customize the flow speed (Petit Prince uses the fastest speed valve), and that I can switch it completely off. Is it leak proof when the valve is set to “off”? Ummm, yeah! I find it incredibly leak proof when left with the valve in place too, but if I’m transporting it on its side, I’m setting the valve to the “off” position.
The Evenflo Sip & Seek Cup does require your child to learn to lift and tilt the cup towards them. That’s fantastic for helping them with the transition to an open cup. I don’t know about you, but at 16 months me (and my carpets) are just not ready for an open cup. This cup lets Petit Prince learn to lift and tilt without risking a huge mess. Since he is lifting this cup, I should note that it’s also really lightweight. Even when filled all the way, it’s not too heavy for him to carry around and lift to his mouth for a sip.
Want to know the best part of this cup? It’s the spinning outer sleeve. I’ll be totally honest here. When I got it, I thought that was a bit, I don’t know, hokey? Okay, so it spins and shows different pictures, big deal! Let me tell you that it is a big deal in a really good way. I can’t even put into words how much joy this feature brings to Petit Prince. Seriously. His favourite cup is the one with the dinosaur scene. When I give it a little spin and the big dinosaur appears, Petit Prince goes “rawr”. I kid you not. He gets so excited to see the big dinosaur and the little ones in the background that appear in the windows. It’s craziness. Best of all, it puts meal time freak outs to a complete stop. When he starts to get fussy and throw food around, I spin the Evenflo Sip & Seek Cup and Petit Prince stops and giggles. He starts giggling during meal time when he was on the verge of a meltdown. Now if that’s not the definition of pure genius, I don’t know what is. Who knew sip & seek could be so much fun? The folks as Evenflo Feeding, apparently!
The Evenflo Sip & Seek Cup is so super easy to clean. No special tools required, simply take it apart and give it a scrub (or put it in the dishwasher on the top rack). It comes apart easily, and even removing the outer sleeve of the cup is quick and painless.

I want to try the soft straw cup – i’ve read that straws are in fact better for your baby than sippy cups, and it’s encouraging how Petit Prince was able to take to them, as that was my only concern with starting straws so young (different mouth motion).

There are at least a gazillion different sippy cups out there. It’s like researching diapers all over again! LOL. But I like how these cups are insulated and have valves to prevent leaking. I’ll have to add them to the Amazon wish list!
I love how the straws on these sippy cups are wider so that they’re easier to clean. That’s huge in my book!
