It’s finally spring in Calgary and with this wonderful season comes two things: crazy weather and growth spurts. I don’t know what it is about the spring season, but it seems like both The Heir and Petit Prince have been growing like crazy. Although they’re definitely both getting a little taller, it’s their feet that are growing out of control. Since spring is the season for new things, it was high time for some new shoes for the boys… and for me… Because treat yo’self, right? Right. Skechers has so many great styles to choose from to keep everyone’s constantly growing feet happy and comfortable this spring. Plus, Skechers shoes are one way I can be sure to stay on top of the trends! I may be rocking the same pants all the moms are buying at Costco these days, but one thing’s for sure… My shoes are adorable and my kids’ footwear is on point!
Lately I’ve noticed that there is one style of shoe completely missing from my wardrobe. A black flat! I know, right? The lack of a black flat has been a footwear conundrum for me for quite some time. I totally want to wear leggings in the spring, but I really only had fall and winter boots to wear with them. That’s not going to work when the temperature is climbing into the high teens and twenties! When it’s warm enough for a cropped pant, but not warm enough for sandals just yet, a flat is the perfect solution. The Skechers BOBS Plush Lite Custom Built shoe is the perfect black flat for my wardrobe. These go with absolutely everything. Are they comfy? They sure are! Do my feet breathe well in them? They sure do! I love the stretchy woven material of these shoes. They allow just the right amount of airflow to keep my feet from overheating when it’s warm, and they don’t leave me with cold feet if the weather makes a turn for the worse. The stretchy knit fabric feels almost sock-like, and it hugs my foot nicely. In terms of comfort, these Skechers BOBS are great for kicking around with the kids and running quick errands. These wouldn’t be my footwear of choice for long walks or full days on my feet, but they fit the bill for the day to day stuff we get up to in the spring!
This spring has brought a load of exciting new changes for King Dad, so a new pair of Skechers to go with his new daily commute seemed apropos. If you’ve never considered a pair of Skechers for wearing to work in an office, you need to take a look at the Mark Nason Skechers line. King Dad has the Mark Nason Jaylee shoe in gray, and they are one of my favourite pairs of shoes he’s had in a very long time. Seriously, these shoes are rocking. These are made with a really soft premium suede, and they lace up to bring a sporty casual feel to this oxford style. The inside of the Jaylee shoe has a leather and fabric lining, and it has a memory foam cushioned comfort insole. The light gray colour is perfect for spring and works well with jeans, khakis, or dress pants. King Dad reports that these shoes are super comfortable, even after a full day’s work. The Jaylee shoe takes him seamlessly from work to weekend. I call that a win!
What about some new kicks for the little guys? The Heir was beyond thrilled when I showed him his new shoes! These Skechers Brixor City Kickz High Tops are so fun! For a brief moment I seriously considered a lace up shoe for The Heir. He’ll be five years old at the end of this summer, and I thought just maybe he’s ready to start tying laces. Let’s just say that I have neither the time nor the patience for any of that. BUT, the good news is that Skechers has loads of options for preschoolers that come with a kid friendly velcro closure! Thank goodness! Skechers Brixor City Kickz have a double strap velcro closure that can be done up really snug for boys with narrow feet (like The Heir), or done up more loosely for boys with tall or wide feet. I love that the fit is a little customizable with the velcro closure. The Brixor City Kickz high tops are a combination of suede and synthetic with a lightly padded tongue and ankle. I love the bold royal blue colour of these high tops, and The Heir does too! He wants to wear them all day every day, and who could blame him? They’re great for all the running around at the park and bike riding that The Heir can’t seem to get enough of these days.
Petit Prince’s feet have grown THREE SIZES since December/January. I know, right? Three sizes. His feet are at least one full size larger than The Heir’s were at this age. It’s unreal. I printed off the handy Skechers size chart so I knew I was ordering just the right size for him. That right size was a toddler size 7. For Petit Prince, I wanted a closed toed shoe with a good sole that was easy for me to get on his feet. The Skechers Lil Lad Taxen shoe is perfect. Not only is the Lil Lad Taxen super lightweight, but it’s also really easy to get on Petit Prince’s feet. The laces on top of the shoe are actually elastics, and the whole top of the shoe opens up from the inside with sturdy velcro. That velcro is strong enough that it’s not coming off no matter how hard Petit Prince plays at the park, so I never have to chase after him to readjust his shoes. The stretchy elastic laces allow for a comfy fit that’s never too loose. The inside of the Lil Lad Taxen is a gel infused memory foam and it is so soft and squishy. The canvas material is nice and breathable, and they look awesome!
