Get Outside This Winter with Skechers!
I received these items at no cost in order to facilitate my review. All opinions remain my own.
Winter is the time for cozying up by the fire, sipping on hot cocoa, and curling up with a good book and nice blanket throw. Or, if you’re a parent, winter is the time for dashing to and from preschool, swimming lessons, play time at the gym, doctor’s visits, and the airport. Am I right? There’s nothing about winter that slows down our family, so we need to make sure we’ve got everything we need to keep us on the go. That starts right down at our toes with the right footwear to tackle winter. From playing in the snow with the kids to commuting downtown for work, my family needs warmth and grip to keep us going. Thankfully, Skechers has a full range of footwear to cover all our winter needs. From full on deep cold winter boots to casual sneakers for indoor activities through the winter, Skechers has your soles covered.
I’ve been keeping my feet warm and stylish in Skechers’ Adorbs – Femme boots. These warm winter boots have been perfect for my mom lifestyle. They are made with a soft suede upper and have a nice sturdy sole for walking around in the snow. The boots are a tall mid calf height, and have a memory foam insole. They have a fuzzy lining through the whole boot, so my feet stay really warm even on super cold days where it dips down to -20C! What I love about these boots is that they just slip on. I’ve had winter boots in the past that lace up, and I’m particularly slow at lacing up boots (so slow, in fact, that it became a running joke amongst my friends and family). With my Skechers Adorbs, I just slip them on and I’m good to go. No lacing, no fiddling, and no time wasted. Unlike my super hefty winter boots, these boots go seamlessly from dashing around outside for preschool drop off and pick up to cruising the mall while The Heir is at school. My other winter boots are a little, well, unsightly, so I always change into nicer looking footwear when I arrive at my destination (if that destination is indoors). My Skechers Adorbs are sleek and stylish, so I don’t feel like I need to swap them out for something else! The memory foam insole makes these boots so darned comfy for winter walks that I really never want to take them off!
King Dad wanted a pair of winter boots that could double as boots for work. His office isn’t super casual, so he needed something that looked stylish, but still provided some good grip in the snow for his morning commute on the train. He’s been wearing the Skechers Mark Nason Parker boots in brown and they’re great! First of all, let me just say that when I pulled these out of the shoe box I actually said “What? These are Skechers?!?!”. These boots look fantastic. They’re an ankle height lace up boot made with smooth leather. The detailing on these is incredible too! They have a wing tip cap on the toe, and have nice detailed stitching and perforations. The top of the ankle has a fabric cuff. Inside, there’s a memory foam insole, so Kind Dad’s feet will be comfortable all day long at work. The sole has really great grip and tread, so he’s not going to have any trouble in the snow. One thing of note about these boots is that they will require some wearing to break them in. The leather is a bit stiff, but after a few wears they will soften up. I love that these boots work for King Dad’s commute and his day at the office! That means no more packing two pairs or forgetting to bring home a pair at the end of the week.
The Heir already had a pair of hefty winter snow boots, but what he really needed was a pair of warm boots for those non-snowy days. We get a lot of those in Calgary! Half the time it’s super cold and snowy, and the rest of the time the temperature hovers around the freezing mark with minimal snow on the ground. It’s still too cold for sneakers, but not cold enough for clunky winter boots! The Skechers Bowland – Steady Drift boots are perfect for those days! These boots have a really smooth faux leather upper with a velcro closure that opens right up to make slipping these on a breeze. It’s ankle height, and has contract stitching accents to give it a nice stylish look. Inside this boot there’s a fuzzy fabric lining that provides just enough warmth for cool winter days without overheating The Heir’s little feet! The soles on these Skechers are fantastic for winter. It’s a sturdy sole with excellent grippy tread so I know The Heir isn’t going to struggle to stay standing on those frosty sidewalks. These boots have a stylish look and have been great for those times when we have to go somewhere nice, like Nana’s house!
Rather than an outdoor pair of shoes for Petit Prince, I decided to go with an indoor pair for him. You see, during the winter, we find ourselves playing indoors a fair amount. Whether he’s running through the mall while The Heir is at school, or playing at the community centre gym while The Heir is swimming, a lot of his activities these days involve being indoors. The Skechers Skech-Stepz are the perfect running shoe for Petit Prince! These toddler running shoes have a mesh fabric and synthetic upper that provides excellent support for his little feet. The laces are made with elastic, so they stretch open for putting the shoe on a chubby little toddler foot. There’s also a velcro strap to hold the shoe closed which is great if your toddler has slim feet. I went with a toddler size 4 for these runners since that’s the size Petit Prince is wearing in all his other footwear. I really should have sized up in these for him. I found that the elastic laces were pretty tight and not super stretchy like I expected. That meant that the shoe didn’t open up all the way and that made it a bit of a challenge to get these on Petit Prince’s feet. Thinking back to when I bought running shoes for The Heir around this age, I did in fact size up from his usual size simply because runner tends to fit snug! I’ll keep that in mind for the next time we need running shoes for Petit Prince! Despite the challenge of getting them on, the Skechers Skech-Stepz are a supportive runner for a relatively new-to-walking toddler. These are exactly what he needs this season for his indoor activities!
